Finding your Inner Blue Space
Recently, a friend shared with me a heartwarming video about "Blue Space" - and how visiting the beach affects the brain. Decluttering the mind and improving creativity were a few of the benefits of visiting the ocean on a regular basis, and I cannot agree more! Not everyone has their nearby ocean to run to, so I put together some ideas on finding your own blue space, and how it benefits the mind, body, and of course the skin.

3 Ways To Find Your Inner Blue Space
1. Watching and listening to videos of ocean movement. Listening to the sounds can help stabilize your mood, and lessening the symptoms of sadness or depression. (I try to post live ocean videos on my instagram live feed about once a week, but I will try to do this more!) Evening just looking at pictures of the ocean or beach can help calm the nerves. Find some favorites, print them out, and hang them around the spaces you frequent most if possible (work, home, kitchen, etc.). I recently hung up a sailboat photo over my kitchen sink and it makes doing the dishes much more pleasurable believe it or not!
2. Create an Ocean Aquarium. This can include just plants! Plants contribute to clean water, and if you have enough of them you won't need to add chemicals to your tank. I have a natural fish tank at home that's been going strong for 3 years now all due to plant life. They do take a little time and research to set up but seeing a water garden or living creature swimming in front of you is extremely soothing.
3. Add a touch of BLUE. Adding a touch of the color blue can add serenity into your life and you don't need to paint an entire room. Add some accents (a lamp, pillows, a blue diffuser) into a room in a room where you would like to feel less stressed. Since blue is a color often found in the dreaminess of a daytime sky, a refreshing swim in a pool of water, or of course a visit to the ocean, some research suggests that it can have a positive psychological effect on the mind. Isn't it worth a try?
