Superfood Masque....Activate!
There are a wide variety of botanicals that go into preparing facial masques that can offer an abundant array of heathy benefits to facial skin. The dry masques I prepare include herbs, flowers, roots, berries, clays, and essential oils. To help them "activate" you need to combine the dry masque preparation with something liquid to smooth over skin.
A quick, easy recipe to activate your masque is using baby food! Most baby foods that come in these little squirt bottles have only a few ingredients (berries, fruits, veggies). I chose this particular baby food because it has raspberry for beneficial enzymes, apple for its natural acids, and acai for anti-oxidants and anti-aging.
Apples are one of my favorite ingredients to use in masques, because they contain a rich source of malic acid and ascorbic acid (vitamin C). Malic acid is a natural exfoliator for dead skin cells, reducing wrinkles and signs of aging. It helps promotes collagen production and combats acne.
Using these natural, skin-loving ingredients in your masque can act as a natural "peel" for oily or acne-prone skin, scars, or hyperpigmentation. Unlike chemical "peels," this natural version does not dry out skin, but provides all the benefits to help radiate skin.
This baby food blend would work well with any masque, but helps to target problem skin the most. In this video I use Vitamin Sea Facial Masque and Gerber brand Raspberry, Apple, Acai baby food.
I hope you enjoy! What is your favorite facial masque activator?
